History

Charlie Webb founded Webb, Cason & Manning decades ago with Shannon Salyer in Corpus Christi, Texas. They called the firm “Webb & Salyer.” The firm grew steadily over the next 15 years, and Charlie and Shannon hired a number of young and talented employees, like US Representative Filemon Vela. Shannon retired from the practice of personal injury and moved to Port Lavaca, where he began assisting the District Attorney of Calhoun County.

The firm continued to grow under the name “Law of Offices of Charles Webb.” In 1998, attorney Benny Cason moved into the firm’s building and began practicing alongside Charlie. Soon thereafter, the firm changed its name to Webb Cason.

In 2019, the firm added Matt Manning to the team. In 2021, Parker Webb bought the firm from Charlie and added “Manning” to the firm name.

After decades of fighting for injured people from all parts of the country, the firm has established itself as a leader among South Texas law firms. It is trusted by clients and referring attorneys and respected by insurance companies and large corporations.

Matt Manning

Matt was raised in Austin, Texas by his dad, the pastor of Sweet Home Missionary Church, and his mom, an administrator at Seton Hospital. After graduating from W.C. Akins High School in Austin in 2004, Matt began his studies at Howard University in Washington, D.C. —“HU! You know!” — laser focused on attending law school. During his time in DC, he interned on Capitol Hill and became immersed in politics. His experiences in college and the august legacies of those who went before him at Howard cemented his desire to serve others through legal practice, particularly in the area of civil rights.

In 2009 he entered the University of Toledo College of Law on a full scholarship, where he served as president of the Black Law Student Association and was active in advocacy competitions, completing coursework in civil rights and visiting at the Texas Tech School of Law in his final year.

Matt began his career as a city attorney for Corpus Christi, prosecuting Class C offenses. Within months, he was hired by the Nueces County DA’s Office. There, he caught the attention of Mark Gonzalez, a young lawyer with a thriving defense firm. Mark hired Matt in 2015, and they practiced criminal defense together until 2017, when Mark was elected to be our District Attorney. Naturally, Matt became Mark’s First Assistant District Attorney and Lead Prosecutor. Matt thrived in that position, becoming one of the most venerated attorneys in Corpus Christi and earning the moniker “Manning of the People.”

In December of 2019, Matt left the DA’s office and joined Webb, Cason & Manning to practice personal injury law. His reputation, enthusiasm, and trial expertise are invaluable, and we are privileged to have him on the team.
