SAN ANTONIO, Texas (WJAC/KABB) — A Nanty Glo native was killed in an accident, while on his way to work for his second day on the job as a school resource officer in Texas.

Matthew Krupa, 27, died after the crash Thursday, according to our sister station KABB-TV. Krupa had started his new role with the North East Independent School District the day before the accident.

His wife, Emylee, told KABB that those who know him best said the only thing he loved more than being a police officer was his family, which includes 10-month-old daughter Mayleigh.

"Anyone you talk to you just know that he loves his daughter was so proud to show her off and proud to brag about her," Emylee said.

According to an obituary for Krupa, he is survived by his parents who still live in the Nanty Glo area. A Funeral Mass is being planned at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Mundys Corner, for later in the week.

A memorial fund has been set up for him, you can donate by clicking here. His obituary also says that in lieu of flowers, donations in Matt’s memory can be made to the Johnstown Police K-9 Unit Fund by clicking here.
