1 injured as 18-wheeler overturns, closes highway in Terrell

The rig struck a bridge and spilled fuel on State Highway 80 near Spur 557.

One person was hurt when an 18-wheeler overturned and spilled fuel on State Highway 80 in Terrell on Wednesday morning, leading to traffic headaches in the area.

The crash happened around 2:30 a.m. near Spur 557, Kaufman County sheriff's deputies said.

The injured person was taken to an area hospital in unknown condition.

Westbound lanes of Highway 80 were closed, and drivers were encouraged to use Interstate 20 as an alternate route.
