A three-car accident on the city's West Side on Thursday hospitalized a man and a pregnant woman, according to San Antonio Police.

The crash occurred around 11 a.m. near the intersection of Culebra Road and Old Grissom Road.

According to SAPD, the driver of a white vehicle was traveling eastbound on Culebra when he lost control of his car, hit the median and went airborne onto westbound traffic.

After going airborne, the white vehicle struck a pickup truck, causing it to rollover into a SUV with a pregnant occupant, SAPD said.

The pregnant female sustained injuries and was taken to University Hospital. The other occupant of the SUV, believed to be the significant other of the female, did not suffer any injuries.

The driver of the white vehicle, believed to be a young male in his 20s, was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

The driver of the pickup did not have any major injuries and was not hospitalized, which SAPD said was "amazing" given the condition of his truck.

SAPD said it does not know what caused the white vehicle to lose control.

Culebra Road heading westbound near Grissom Road is currently shut down. Officials advise others to avoid the area.
